Donghae, 39, a member of Super Junior, collapsed on stage during his solo concert in Hong Kong on June 28 because of a pre-existing slipped disc (lumbar disc herniation) [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. The concert was part of Donghae's first solo "Alive" tour, which began in Seoul in mid-May and included stops in Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and Macau [1].

He experienced sudden acute pain while performing the song "Help" and collapsed, unable to stand for some time on stage [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. Staff quickly intervened and helped him offstage for emergency treatment backstage, temporarily interrupting the concert [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6].

Despite the pain, Donghae returned to the stage, sitting on a chair to continue the concert. He adjusted his performance and re-performed some songs to compensate for fans [1, 3, 4].

Throughout the concert and online, Donghae expressed deep regret for disappointing his fans. He apologized repeatedly, saying, "Today was my first solo concert in Hong Kong. I promised everyone a good time, but I couldn’t deliver. I am very sorry" [3]. He also said, "Seeing everyone cry breaks my heart. I made you all disappointed during such precious time" [4], and "Once again, I sincerely say sorry. I love you all" [5].

On June 29, Donghae posted a handwritten apology letter in Cantonese on social media, promising to seek treatment immediately upon his return to South Korea and to come back healthy. He wrote, "I promise I will return healthy, and I promise to always bring you smiles in my life ahead" [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6].

Fans responded online with overwhelming support, praising his dedication and sincerity while encouraging him to prioritize his health and recovery [2, 4, 6].

Donghae’s "Alive" tour continues with upcoming shows planned in Japan, Taiwan, and Macau [1].
