Fourteen movable properties seized from the residence of Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos will be auctioned on June 22, 2026, after he failed to pay an outstanding judgment amounting to RM66,061.85 to Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok in a defamation suit case [1, 2].
The writ of seizure and sale was executed on January 28, 2026, at Jamal's residence in Ampang Jaya, Selangor [1, 2]. The High Court recently dismissed an interpleader claim application submitted by Jamal's son, Muhammad Amin Daniel, who asserted ownership over the seized items. Muhammad Amin Daniel was ordered to pay RM8,000 in costs for the dismissed claim [1, 2]. Another party, Mohd Razali Kamin, withdrew his interpleader claim and was ordered to pay RM2,000 in costs [1, 2]. Datuk SN Nair stated, "there is no longer any obstacle to the proceedings for the execution of the judgment. The auction of the seized goods is set for June 22, 2026 at 10am" [2].
The outstanding judgment amount represents costs owed to Teresa Kok that remain unpaid after previous court rulings [1, 2]. The defamation suit was originally filed by Teresa Kok on April 6, 2017, following defamatory statements made by Jamal on March 8, 2017, accusing her of misusing Yawas funds during a press conference [1, 2].
The High Court ordered Jamal on July 26, 2022, to pay RM300,000 in damages and RM50,000 in costs to Kok [1, 2]. Jamal’s subsequent application for leave to appeal was dismissed by the Federal Court on July 30, 2024, and he paid the RM300,000 damages amount that year [1, 2].
The auction scheduled for June 22 will be held at 10:00 a.m., marking the next step in recovering the remaining unpaid judgment costs in the case [1, 2].
