Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA/AKPS) and Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) seized 26,040 kilograms of frozen chicken at the Bukit Kayu Hitam ICQS Complex on June 8, 2026, over suspicions of a fake halal certificate. [1, 2]

The consignment’s halal certificate was confirmed fake by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) on June 12 after verification. [1, 2]

The chicken shipment is valued at RM208,320 based on import permit price and weight. Authorities also seized the trailer carrying the shipment, valued at approximately RM25,000, bringing the total seizure value to RM233,320. [1, 2]

Senior Assistant Commissioner Fauzi Mohd Yusof said authorities do not rule out the involvement of a syndicate producing and using fake halal certificates for food importation in the country. [1] SAC Fauzi added that "AKPS viewed seriously any attempt to submit fake documents, especially those involving halal certification, and that stern action would be taken against those involved." The seizure highlights close monitoring at border checkpoints to prevent fraudulent food imports. Investigations are ongoing to identify all parties involved.

Officials have not announced further actions or court dates but remain vigilant against similar violations. [1, 2]
