Four motorcyclists died in a crash involving a car and multiple motorcycles on the East Coast Expressway (LPT) near Kuantan around 1 a.m. on July 11, 2026 [1, 2, 3]. The collision occurred at KM246.4, near the Jabor Toll Plaza exit, when a motorcycle struck the rear of a car traveling toward Kemaman, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving 13 vehicles—one car and 12 motorcycles [1, 2, 3].

The deceased riders were identified as Che Mohd Sufian Che Ghani, 40; Muhammad Hafiz Al Hakim Mazlan, 33; Mohd Aizat Husni, 33; and Muhammad Safawi Md Noh, 24 [1, 2, 3]. Three died at the scene, while Muhammad Safawi Md Noh died later at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) [1, 2, 3]. Twenty others injured received treatment at two Kuantan hospitals [2].

The chain-reaction crash began when the motorcycle ridden by Che Mohd Sufian struck the rear of the car and fell into the right lane, blocking other motorcyclists behind him, according to ACP Ashari. "Several other motorcyclists travelling behind were unable to avoid the obstruction, resulting in a chain-reaction collision" [1].

A 13-year-old passenger in the car suffered a neck injury; the driver was unhurt [1, 3]. Police are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving [1, 3].

Che Mohd Sufian and his friends had traveled from Terengganu to Kuantan for a meal before the accident [2]. A relative, Faridah Mat Asri, said, "The last time I saw him was yesterday afternoon, before I took our children to the beach. The last message I received from him was at midnight, and after that there were no more messages" [2].

Post-mortem examinations on the four victims began the same morning at HTAA [3]. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
