Live Nation Malaysia managing director Paramananthan Rajagopal warned fans that claims of privately distributed tickets for the BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG' concert in Kuala Lumpur are fraudulent. He said scammers use false insider stories to dupe buyers into trusting they have secured legitimate tickets, despite these offers being fake [1, 2].
One reported case involved an influencer allegedly selling a Soundcheck VIP Package ticket for RM3,288, more than double the official price of RM1,288. Official membership pre-sales for the two-day concert, held at a stadium in Kuala Lumpur, will open on June 3, 2026 [1, 2].
Rajagopal noted Live Nation Malaysia has repeatedly encountered ticket scams in past concerts. Identifying resellers is difficult because most transactions occur online. Some scammers secure a few tickets and falsely claim to have many more, creating an illusion of availability to lure buyers [1, 2].
To combat fraud, the government launched the ‘Beli Tiket Selamat’ campaign on May 25, 2026. Spearheaded by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, the initiative promotes awareness, supports victims, and facilitates intelligence sharing on ticket scams. It includes a website for scam reporting, verified intelligence, and physical help desks at venues [1, 2]. Rajagopal said, “That’s why we didn’t just launch the KL Headline Season 2026, our first agenda was the Beli Tiket Selamat initiative. Because we understand they, the fans, are the ones who are at risk the most” [1].
The KL Headline Season 2026 was also unveiled on May 25 to promote Kuala Lumpur as a live music hub. The season features 25 global artists across 6 venues and expects around 500,000 fans from the region, including Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Hong Kong [3].
Malaysia hosted over 400 concerts in 2024, generating RM553 million in tourism revenue. The 2026 concert industry is projected to contribute RM1.7 billion to the economy [3]. Rajagopal remarked, “Not too long ago, fans across Malaysia would travel overseas to Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo, China, Australia, to experience the world’s biggest concerts. Today, the world’s biggest tours are coming to KL” [3].
The BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG' pre-sale begins June 3, marking the official start of ticket distribution under Live Nation Malaysia’s supervision [1, 2]. Fans are advised to purchase tickets only through official channels to avoid scams.
