Warnings are issued when thunderstorms have rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour or are expected to last more than one hour, with each warning valid for no more than six hours per issuance [3].
Earlier on the same day, MetMalaysia had issued shorter duration warnings in the early morning hours covering six states until 3am, including Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang [4]. Separate warnings covered seven states until 1am, affecting parts of Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, and Sabah [5].
The 7pm warning issued at 3:45am on June 30 covers Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and 11 states, marking a progression from the earlier shorter alerts [3]. Authorities advise residents in the affected areas to remain cautious and monitor local weather updates.
Local agencies and the public are expected to stay alert for further updates as the warnings remain valid until this evening.
