The party said it must mobilize all its resources to stay true to the "Malaysia for Malaysians" ideal and prevent extremist groups from gaining influence by maintaining an inclusive, balanced society [1, 2, 3].
Malaysia has seen four prime ministers in just seven years, which DAP said caused political instability affecting the economy and investor confidence — a situation it wants to avoid repeating [1, 2, 3]. The party stated it must remain in the unity government for the full parliamentary term to maintain stability, implement reforms, and rebuild public trust. "DAP must continue to demonstrate its capabilities through achievements and work performance so as not to disappoint the people’s expectations," the Perak DAP statement said [1]. Another statement added, "The party must shoulder the responsibility of remaining in the unity government until the end of the term to maintain political stability, implement reforms, demonstrate achievements and regain the people’s confidence. This is the right and responsible path" [3].
The announcement came ahead of the 2026 DAP Party Conference set for Sunday, August 16, where the party will decide its long-term position on participation in the federal government during the current parliamentary term [1, 2, 3].
