Food and parcel delivery workers in Kuala Lumpur now have a dedicated rest and recharge facility called D’Tebing Recharge Rider near Dataran Merdeka, launched on June 16 by Minister Hannah Yeoh and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun bin Mak Ujud [1]. The facility offers sheltered rest areas, mobile phone charging stations, a prayer room (surau), and public restrooms [1]. It is located within walking distance of a food court serving Menu Rahmah, designed as a comfortable waiting area for delivery riders to place orders and rest [1].

The D’Tebing hub was built and funded by coffee chain Zus Coffee as part of an effort to support the city’s delivery community [1]. Minister Yeoh said such facilities "address the needs of all segments of society, including the gig worker community, which has become increasingly significant in today’s urban economic landscape" [1]. Mayor Fadlun added, "These facilities were established to support the well-being of the delivery community, who play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of economic activities and the daily lives of city dwellers" [1].

Delivery riders often eat at simple and affordable local eateries due to rising costs, favoring filling and low-cost meals [2]. Riders named favorites such as Nasi Bajet Toklan, which offers nasi campur for RM6, Nizam Cendol Goncang with cendol priced at RM1, and Mariyana Tomyam for dinner options [2]. Rider Mohd Husni said, "We just want something good and filling. Sometimes when it’s really hot, all you want is a bowl of cendol and a place to sit down for a while" [2]. Ahmad Ijan said, "If I want something filling that won’t cost much, I’ll go there. This is one of the cheapest spots for nasi campur, for RM6 you get rice, a meat dish and a vegetable dish" [2].

Minister Yeoh indicated plans to establish more rest and recharge spots across Kuala Lumpur, seeking funding partners including Khazanah Nasional Berhad to expand such support for delivery workers [1].
