Muslims across Malaysia welcomed 1 Muharam 1448H with spiritual activities in mosques and suraus nationwide today [1]. The National Maal Hijrah 1448H/2026M celebration took place at Putra Mosque in Putrajaya, drawing about 5,000 local and international guests [2, 3]. The event featured Quranic tadabbur sessions, prayers, religious talks, and presentations of National and International Tokoh Maal Hijrah Awards [1, 2, 3].

The program's theme, "MADANI Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati," reflected the spirit of Prophet Muhammad SAW's Hijrah and the development of Islamic civilization [2, 3]. The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, graced and officially opened the national-level celebration at Putra Mosque. Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, JAKIM director-general, highlighted the Sultan’s participation, saying, “The ceremony will be graced by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah” and emphasized that “embracing these values can help build a united, resilient and blessed ummah” [2, 3].

A new highlight this year was the Tausiyyah @ Maal Hijrah programme, which focused on Quranic verse reflection and encouraging positive change through Hijrah [2, 3]. Over 1,000 attendees participated in the Tausiyyah programme and prayer recital on June 16 at Putra Mosque, which was also attended by Minister Dr Zulkifli Hasan [1, 3].

At the state level, Maal Hijrah celebrations were held in Melaka and Selangor, attracting more than 500 guests in Melaka, where 13 awards were presented. Regional leaders and royalty attended these events [1].

The National and International Tokoh Maal Hijrah Lecture will be held on June 18 at 9 a.m. at the Putrajaya Islamic Complex Auditorium. The lecture will provide a platform for award recipients to share their insights and knowledge [2, 3].
