The construction of additional classrooms using the Modular Precast System (MPS) under Program Cakna MADANI is set to finish by December 2026 to meet the 2027 Year One school intake [1, 2, 3].
The MPS allows faster completion while maintaining quality and durability, with projects delivered on schedule. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said, "Before the end of the year, the schools requiring these additional classrooms will be completed" [2].
The MPS, inspired by China's rapid modular building methods capable of completing a 10-storey building in under 29 hours, offers lower costs and long-lasting structures. Maslan noted, "The cost is lower, construction is faster, while the quality remains the same. Its durability also extends for decades. At present, we are only using it for additional buildings, but in principle it can also be applied to permanent buildings" [3].
In Alor Gajah district, 14 schools will receive additional classrooms at a total cost of RM12.05 million. Alongside these, two schools are getting new covered multipurpose halls and covered courts worth RM1.83 million [1, 2, 3].
The Public Works Department (JKR) in Alor Gajah is also managing five federal building projects valued at RM22.6 million. These include reconstruction of dilapidated buildings, a replacement canteen, mosque construction, and upgrades to hospitality training facilities. An additional RM5.1 million has been allocated for maintenance of federal buildings [1, 2, 3].
Deputy Minister Ahmad Maslan inspected the federal development projects in Alor Gajah on August 6, 2026, and provided updates on the progress of MPS construction [1, 3].
The additional classrooms will be ready for the start of the 2027 school year, ensuring sufficient capacity for new Year One students [1, 2, 3].
