Nicholas Galitzine plays the character Adam, who transforms into He-Man by wielding the Sword of Grayskull in the upcoming film Masters of the Universe [1, 2]. The 31-year-old actor underwent a demanding training regimen involving specific eating phases, weightlifting, and cardio to physically embody the iconic hero [1, 2]. "I wish I could just point the sword in the sky, and then transform. But no, it was a massive undertaking," Galitzine said [1].

He revealed the mental discipline required to maintain his workout routine, saying, "You’re working out five, six days in a row, and you come into work, and you just really, really, really don’t feel like doing it. You have to tell yourself: ‘no matter what, I’m not missing a workout today.’" [2]. The actor followed a schedule of training five to six days a week to build and sustain the necessary physique [1, 2].

Before landing this role, Galitzine gained attention for playing Prince Henry in Red, White & Royal Blue and a boy band singer in The Idea of You [1, 2]. Despite not being familiar with the classic 1980s He-Man franchises before filming, he was immediately drawn to the project after reading the script. "And as soon as I finished the script, I called my agent and I said: ‘I need to do this movie,’" he recalled [1].

The film is directed by Travis Knight, co-founder of Laika studios, known for stop-motion films such as Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings [1, 2]. Galitzine stars alongside Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn [1, 2]. Mendes described her character Teela as "sort of that grounding force throughout the film" and a strong heroine [2].

Masters of the Universe opens in Singapore cinemas on June 4, 2026, and premieres in US theaters on June 5, 2026 [1, 2].
