Prince George, 12, will begin his secondary schooling at Eton College in September 2026, Kensington Palace confirmed on June 16 [1]. He is the eldest son of Prince William and second in line to the British throne after his father [1, 2].

Eton College, located in Berkshire west of London, charges annual fees of more than £63,000 and educates boys aged 13 to 18, with about 1,350 students enrolled [1, 2]. Founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, the school maintains many traditional uniforms and customs [1, 2].

Both Prince William and Prince Harry attended Eton College, continuing a family tradition. However, Prince George's grandfather, King Charles III, went to Gordonstoun school in the Scottish Highlands, which was also attended by the late Duke of Edinburgh [1, 2].

Until now, Prince George has been boarding at Lambrook School, a private preparatory school in Berkshire, since 2022. His younger siblings Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, also attend Lambrook [1, 2]. It is currently unknown if Prince George will board at Eton or commute from the family’s Forest Lodge home near Windsor [1, 2].

Kensington Palace stated: "Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from this September" [1]. The announcement followed reports by Malay Mail on June 16 after the palace's statement [2].

Prince George is expected to start his secondary education at Eton alongside about 1,350 other boys when the academic year begins this September [1, 2].
