A joint operation by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Immigration Department targeted unlicensed traders and foreigners operating illegally at Pasar Pudu, Jalan Yew, at 6 a.m. on June 9, 2026 [1, 2].
Authorities detained 22 unlicensed traders in total. Among them were 13 foreigners and 9 Malaysian nationals [2]. Sixteen foreign nationals, including Bangladeshis, Indonesians, and Myanmar nationals, were held for suspected immigration offences [1, 2]. A total of 62 migrants were screened during the raid [1, 2].
Officials seized goods and business equipment from the unauthorised traders. These items were taken to DBKL storage following the operation [1, 2]. Compound notices were issued to stall owners under the Federal Territories Hawkers Licensing By-Laws 2016 and the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 for operating without proper licences [1, 2].
The raid aimed to enforce licensing laws and immigration regulations to curb illegal trading in the city. The authorities have yet to announce the next steps regarding prosecution or further investigation.
