Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin filed a civil action against MYNIC Berhad on June 18 seeking to identify the owner of the focusmalaysia.my domain that published an allegedly defamatory article on March 10, 2026 [1, 2, 3].

The article, titled "10 reasons Why KJ isn't PM material, Malaysians must carefully examine his past track record," was released under the pseudonym "Corruption Watch" [1, 2, 3]. Khairy claims the piece damaged his reputation and demands disclosure of the subscriber's information to pursue legal redress.

Khairy's application requests MYNIC to provide the domain owner's identity card or company registration number, address, email, telephone number, administrative and technical contacts, as well as registration documents and ownership history [1, 2, 3].

Prior to the court filing, Khairy's lawyers sent a letter of demand to Focus Malaysia Sdn Bhd on March 13, claiming ownership of the website. Focus Malaysia denied this, stating it had disposed of its business around 2018, and thus is not responsible for the article [1, 2, 3].

MYNIC confirmed it holds the registered owner's details, including name, address, email, telephone, and technical contact information. It stated the registered owner at the time of the article's publication on March 10 remains the current owner, with no changes up to June 18 when Khairy filed the application [1, 2, 3].

However, MYNIC opposes Khairy's request for correspondence and communications among itself, the registrant, and the accredited registrar, arguing such materials are irrelevant or unnecessary to the defamation case [1, 2, 3].

MYNIC also asserts it is an innocent third party, not the intended defendant. It seeks indemnity from any liabilities or costs arising from compliance with the court order and requests Khairy bear the costs of both the application and compliance [1, 3].

News of Khairy’s legal action against MYNIC emerged as the dispute over the identity of the 'Corruption Watch' author continues to unfold [1, 2, 3].
