A one-month-old baby boy was thrown from a Proton Saga car onto a grassy verge after a crash involving two vehicles near a petrol station at Balai Panjang on the AMJ Highway in Melaka at about 10pm on June 1, 2026 [1, 2]. According to Supt Halim Abas, "The baby, who was being cradled by his mother in the back seat, is believed to have been thrown out of the vehicle and was found in a grassy area near the scene" [2]. The infant suffered swelling on his head from the impact [1, 2]. His mother experienced back pain but was otherwise stable after the collision [1, 2]. The father, who was driving, was uninjured [1, 2].
Both the baby and the mother were treated at Melaka Hospital and later discharged after their conditions were confirmed stable [1, 2].
Police have identified the other vehicle involved in the crash and have launched an investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 [1, 2].
