The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, officially opened the first Pahang Islamic Religious Primary School (SRAIN) at temporary premises in Golden Hill, Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands on June 9, 2026 [1]. The school began operations on January 4, 2026, with 14 Year One pupils and seven teachers [1].

The Sultan also raised a proposal to introduce Chinese language studies into the school curriculum, which the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (JAIP) plans to implement [1]. JAIP intends to expand the SRAIN model to other districts in Pahang, with Kuantan considered as the next location [1]. A permanent 10-acre campus integrated with a new mosque complex is planned at Taman Royal Lily in Cameron Highlands [1].

Donations supporting the school include RM1,270,402 for a van purchase and RM11,000 from Bank Rakyat for a smart board [1].

On June 10, 2026, the Sultan announced he will not seek election as president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) at the annual congress scheduled in September [2]. He said, "There is no need for me. I am from the older generation. Let the younger people contest for the FAM presidency" [2].

The same day, he attended the 2026 National Track Cycling Championships at the National Velodrome, expressing admiration for the riders’ performances [2]. He said, "In my recollection, this is the first time I have watched a race inside a velodrome. I have never visited any velodrome in Malaysia or elsewhere in the world. I am very impressed by the competition and it has given me a better appreciation of track cycling. Credit to all the riders, especially Datuk Azizul and Shah Firdaus" [2]. He expressed hope that rider Mohd Azizulhasni Awang will compete at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles [2].
