RTM and Unifi TV announced they are official broadcasters of all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held in the US, Canada, and Mexico, available in Malaysia via TV and streaming platforms [1, 2, 3, 4]. Fans can watch the matches on RTM's MYTV channels TV Okey (110) and Sukan+ (111), as well as on Unifi TV [1, 3, 4].
RTM also provides streaming through its RTMKlik platform, supporting Android, iOS, laptops, desktops, and smart TVs [1, 2, 3, 4]. RTMKlik had over 7 million downloads and between 3.5 to 4.8 million active users recorded in March-April 2026 [2]. The platform was recently upgraded to version 4.0.5, adding three dedicated FIFA World Cup channels (FIFA WC1, WC2, WC3) with improved features [4].
The government allocated RM26.2 million for RTM’s World Cup coverage in 2026, down from RM33 million in 2022 [2]. Ashwad Ismail, Director-General of Broadcasting, said, “We decided to bring the FIFA World Cup 2026 to Malaysians because it is what the people want, especially local football fans. Football remains the country’s most popular sport and many are eager to see what makes this edition different from previous tournaments.” He added, “For the 2022 edition, the government, through RTM, spent around RM33 million. This time, it is RM26.2 million to bring all 104 matches to Malaysians.”
RTM offers Malay and English commentary on selected matches, with some broadcasts available in high definition depending on network conditions [1, 3, 4]. The broadcaster also airs special programming including pre-match analysis, expert commentary, daily highlights, and the latest news throughout the tournament [1, 3, 4].
Viewers are encouraged, though not required, to register accounts on RTMKlik for a better experience [1, 3]. Replays of some matches will also be available on the platform depending on scheduling updates [1, 3].
RTM’s FIFA World Cup Grandstand program started on June 12 alongside the tournament’s opening match between Mexico and South Africa [4]. Key matches scheduled for live broadcast include the two semi-finals on July 15 and 16 at 2 a.m. Malaysian time, the third-place playoff on July 19 at 4 a.m., and the final match on July 20 at 1:30 a.m. [4].
RTM works with government and private partners, including major telcos CelcomDigi, Unifi, and UMobile, as broadcast sponsors [2, 4]. The coverage aims to provide comprehensive access to Malaysian audiences across multiple platforms throughout the entire World Cup tournament.
