The Communications Ministry of Malaysia plans to train at least one AI prompt engineer at every National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi) across the country. The program aims to boost AI literacy and skills among young Malaysians, focusing on developing AI applications tailored to local community needs [1, 2].

Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the effort targets youth understanding of AI platforms like Gemini and Copilot, enabling them to create new AI tools to solve real problems on the ground. "I would like to set a clear aspiration that we will work towards producing a prompt engineer at every Nadi centre across the country, whether in Teluk Ramunia in Johor or Pulau Banggi in Sabah," Fahmi said [1].

The initiative also seeks to nurture technologically skilled local talent and generate employment opportunities beyond Malaysia’s major urban centers [1, 2]. The ministry will expand community outreach programs with other government bodies to broaden access to services.

Planned activities between June 12 and 14, 2026 will include broadcast and live weekend programs in various locations, outdoor cinema screenings, community feasts, and a Safe Internet Campaign. These events will coincide with the 2026 FIFA World Cup and involve agencies including RTM and Japen [1, 2].

Fahmi has ordered the immediate finalization of planning and coordination to ensure the program’s prompt rollout starting the weekend of June 12 [1, 2].
