Singapore will close the city-bound CTE Exit 8A towards the PIE in the direction of Tuas from midnight to 5am on June 3, 5, and 10 to carry out bridge launching works as part of a new pedestrian and cycling bridge project [1, 2]. Motorists who need to use this exit to reach the PIE should instead take CTE Exit 7C and enter the PIE via Moulmein Road and Thomson Road [1, 2].
The section of Serangoon Road leading to the Tuas-bound PIE and north-bound CTE will also be closed from midnight to 5am on June 4, 6, 7, 12, and 17 [1, 2]. Drivers on Serangoon Road heading towards Tuas via the PIE are advised to use Balestier Road, Moulmein Road, and Thomson Road. To access the north-bound CTE via Serangoon Road, motorists should take Upper Serangoon Road and Braddell Road [1, 2].
Barricades and traffic diversion signs will be placed to guide motorists during the closures [1, 2]. The scheduled works support the launching of a new 682-meter-long pedestrian and cycling bridge across the PIE near St Andrew's Junior School. This bridge spans 14 lanes of traffic and is part of the Bishan-to-City Links project [1, 2].
The new bridge will connect Potong Pasir and Bendemeer, forming part of a 1.2-kilometer pedestrian and cycling link that connects park connectors and neighborhood parks [1, 2]. This upgrade aims to enhance safe and direct routes for cyclists and pedestrians in the area.
The overnight closures and diversions will continue on all specified dates from June 3 to 17 to complete the necessary bridge works.
