Singapore opened applications today for the inaugural SME AI Impact Awards. The program will recognize up to 30 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have successfully adopted artificial intelligence to improve their businesses within the country [1, 2].
The awards, jointly organized by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), are part of the National AI Impact Programme announced in March. The wider initiative aims to help 10,000 local enterprises implement AI and train 100,000 workers over three years [1, 2].
Two award categories are offered: SMEs that have developed proprietary AI solutions and those that have implemented ready-to-use or off-the-shelf AI technologies. Winners will receive the SME AI Impact Award Trustmark, which serves to boost their market credibility and competitive advantage [1, 2].
The evaluation criteria focus on the impact and value-add of AI, with measurable results such as productivity improvements and financial benefits. Judges will also consider change management and the effect on the workforce. Site visits will be conducted to verify AI deployment within nominated companies [1, 2].
To qualify, SMEs must be registered and operating in Singapore, have at least 30% local shareholding, an annual group turnover below SGD 100 million or fewer than 200 employees, and have deployed AI solutions for a minimum of six months [1, 2].
SBF will facilitate nominations through its network, while IMDA hosts submissions on its SMEs Go Digital platform. The judging panel features senior leaders including IMDA CEO Ng Cher Pong, SBF CEO Kok Ping Soon, Microsoft Singapore MD Chia Wee Luen, and Google Singapore country MD Benjamin Stewart King [1, 2].
The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 13, 2026, at the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. It will be held during the SMEs Go Digital Day event [2].
