Agricultural land south of Lim Chu Kang will be repurposed for defence use in the near future, while military land in the northern area will be allocated for farming, the Singapore Food Agency, Ministry of Defence, National Parks Board, and Singapore Land Authority announced on May 25, 2026 [1, 2, 3].

Five farm leaseholders currently operate on southern plots along Neo Tiew Lane and Neo Tiew Road: Seng Choon Farm, Bollywood Farms, Gan Aquarium Fish Farm, Gallop Kranji Farm Resort, and Malaysian Feedmills Farms [1, 2, 3]. These farms will be allowed to continue operations until their leases expire, ranging from December 2026 to the mid-2030s, with no early lease termination planned [1, 2, 3]. Bollywood Farms and Gan Aquarium Fish Farm leases expire in December 2026, Gallop Kranji Farm Resort in March 2027, Seng Choon Farm in 2036, and Malaysian Feedmills Farms in 2037 [1, 2, 3].

Affected farms were informed since 2020 that no further tenure extensions would be granted [1, 2, 3]. After lease expiry, the land will be consolidated for defence purposes, while farms wishing to continue must bid for land in the northern Lim Chu Kang agricultural zone with no guaranteed relocation [1, 2, 3].

The consolidation supports the development of a high-tech agri-food hub under the Lim Chu Kang Masterplan, announced in 2020 but currently delayed [1, 2, 3]. Government agencies stated this zoning change "will allow the Government to explore how the physical co-location of food and non-food farms to the north of Lim Chu Kang could benefit from shared facilities and integrated infrastructure planning for more efficient operations, better logistics and to lower production costs" [1]. They added that "the impact on affected farms is not expected to have a material effect to our overall food supply" [1].

The land-use realignment aligns with Singapore’s target of producing 20% of consumed food locally by 2035, factoring into the transition plans for Lim Chu Kang farming areas [1, 2, 3].

The earliest lease expirations at Bollywood Farms and Gan Aquarium Fish Farm occur this December 2026, followed by Gallop Kranji Farm Resort in March 2027, marking the start of the transition process for southern farmland.
