Benjamin Kheng, 35, revealed that a critical health scare prompted his recent fitness transformation. In 2025, he was diagnosed with a dangerously high LDL cholesterol level of 252, which led him to change his lifestyle radically [1, 2, 3]. Kheng shared in a TikTok video on June 8 that the high cholesterol reading "is really, really, really bad," pushing him to run 60 km weekly and follow a very strict diet excluding processed foods [1, 2, 3].
Kheng emphasized that he fuels his intensive running routine without cutting carbohydrates, stating, "I don’t have the time or the money" for weight loss drugs and firmly denied using Ozempic, peptides, or retatrutide [1, 2, 3]. "I’m only going to say this once. I’m not on any weight loss drug," he said [1].
He now takes lifelong medication to manage his cholesterol but did not provide details about the drugs [1, 2, 3]. While admitting to the challenges of maintaining strict diet and fitness habits in his mid-30s, Kheng said, "Is it fun? Not really. Uh, do I want to be this weight all the time? Not really as well. Um, do I care in my mid-30s? Honestly, I don’t give a s***, guys" [2].
Kheng also launched a wellness community initiative called Ben There Run That. Its first event took place on May 30 with a casual 4-kilometer run followed by breakfast, coffee, and live music [1, 3]. Through the initiative, he encourages others to embrace fitness as part of a healthy lifestyle, summing up his approach with, "Just go and work out, be happy, healthy. That’s pretty much it" [1].
