Mohamed Sufian Mohamed Sabri stabbed his friend twice near Tampines MRT station on December 19, 2025, following a heated argument the day before at a restaurant in Tampines Central 1 [1, 2, 3]. Using a 13cm blade knife, Sufian stabbed the victim once in the left forearm and once in the back [1, 2, 3]. The victim sustained liver lacerations and was hospitalised at Changi General Hospital for four days [1, 2, 3].
Both men, aged 53 for Sufian and 57 for the victim, were acquaintances who often met with mutual friends [1, 2, 3]. The victim was found bloodied near Tampines MRT and immediately taken to hospital [1, 2, 3].
Sufian pleaded guilty to one charge of voluntarily causing hurt and was sentenced on June 16, 2026, to nine months and 19 days in jail [1, 2, 3]. The prosecution sought a harsher sentence citing his previous conviction on July 16, 2025, for possession of a karambit knife in the same area, for which he had served six months’ jail [1, 2, 3]. Deputy Public Prosecutor Yeo Kee Hwan said the case showed an escalation in Sufian's offending behavior, noting he "was not only in possession of a knife in public again but had also gone on to use the weapon to stab another man" [3].
