The Healthy Living Festival 2026 took place on June 6 and 7 at Choa Chu Kang Stadium, drawing over 6,000 attendees from Singapore’s north-west district, including areas such as Nee Soon, Sembawang, and Holland-Bukit Timah [1, 2, 3].
Organised by the North West Community Development Council (CDC), the event aimed to promote fitness and community bonding among residents [1, 2, 3]. Activities featured a mass brisk walk on June 7 at 7:30 a.m., a parent-child team challenge testing strength, speed, and teamwork, as well as games like pickleball, frisbee golf, and tyre flips [1, 2, 3].
Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam, North West District mayor Alex Yam, and MPs Liang Eng Hwa, Ng Shi Xuan, Gabriel Lam, and Lee Hui Ying attended the festival on June 7 [1, 2, 3]. Mr. Shanmugam expressed encouragement at the strong turnout, saying, "It is really important that we keep ourselves fit and healthy... we must increase the number of attendees every year" [1].
Mr. Yam noted the inclusion of new activities such as fitness stations and calisthenics had attracted a wider age range of participants. He said, "In a world where screens compete for our attention, it is wonderful to see families putting down their phones and being present with one another" [1]. The calisthenics equipment at neighbourhood fitness corners will allow residents to continue exercising after the festival [1, 2, 3].
Among participants was a family from Canberra: 44-year-old Thu Zar Lin, her husband, and their 11-year-old son. Ms. Thu said, "It is our first time at such an event, but it has been fun. It’s good to stay active alongside so many people" [1].
Also present was 65-year-old retired kitchen assistant Rabiah Basir, who attends exercise sessions like qigong and zumba five times a week. She said, "It’s not good to just stay home. I don’t want my brain to deteriorate. I haven’t felt this good and light in many years" [1].
The festival’s next mass community activity is scheduled for later in the year, aiming to build on the momentum from this event [1, 2, 3].
