PERTAPIS held its third live korban event on May 27, 2026, at the PERTAPIS Halfway House in Geylang, distributing about 1,000kg of meat to 500 lower-income families under its care [1, 2, 3].
Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and Health, Rahayu Mahzam, attended as the guest of honour [1, 2, 3]. About 200 families came to collect the korban meat in person, while the rest had their portions delivered to them [1, 2, 3].
This year, donors paid SGD 597 each to sponsor one of 150 sheep—an increase from 120 sheep the previous year—and had the chance to witness the live korban ritual during Hari Raya Haji [1, 2, 3]. Korban is a Muslim ritual involving the sacrifice of livestock, with the meat distributed to donors’ families, friends, and less privileged people as charity [1, 2, 3].
Housewife Rokiah Ahmad, 50, attended the event with her two daughters and said, "I feel happy to have done something good for the poor and for the life thereafter" [1]. Her daughter, dental assistant Nur Syafiqah Nabilla Ismail, 29, chose to donate locally in Singapore for the first time this year after donating overseas previously, explaining, "I chose to donate in Singapore in 2026 for the live experience after donating overseas for the past few years" [1].
Volunteer Firman Shah, a 17-year-old student who mainly handled the sheep this year, participated along with five family members. He said, "I didn’t want to stay at home and do nothing. I wanted to go out and experience stuff and spend time with my family" [1].
