Liverpool have completed the signing of 18-year-old goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Belgian club Genk on a six-year contract, with the deal potentially worth up to £30 million including add-ons [1, 2, 3].
Brughmans will remain on loan at Genk for the 2026-27 season before joining Liverpool ahead of the 2027-28 campaign [1, 2, 3]. He has already started all four of Genk's matches this season and stands 6ft 7in tall, making him a notable presence in goal [1, 2, 3].
The Belgian youth international has captained Belgium’s U17 teams at the European Championship and World Cup in 2025 and currently leads the U19 squad [2, 3].
Liverpool's current goalkeeping roster includes Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, and Vitezslav Jaros. Brughmans is expected to become an additional option from summer 2027 onwards [1].
The transfer was facilitated by Liverpool’s global talent department under Matt Newberry [1].
Brughmans’ loan at Genk will continue for the entire 2026-27 season, with his arrival at Liverpool expected in summer 2027 [1, 2, 3].
