Remedy Entertainment announced Control Resonant, a sequel to 2019's Control that also acts as a fresh starting point for the franchise, scheduled for release in fall 2026 [1, 2].
The game centers on Dylan Faden, the brother of original protagonist Jesse Faden. Dylan was held captive within the Oldest House and trained to be a weapon, but unlike Jesse, players experience the story from Dylan’s perspective as he navigates the normal world, which feels strange to him. Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen said, "Jesse’s coming from our world into the paranatural world; Dylan has always been there. Now he’s stepping into our world. And our world is weird to him" [2].
The setting shifts from the Oldest House to a twisted version of Manhattan, though the Oldest House remains infested with Hiss enemies [1, 2]. Players engage in a new hack-and-slash combat style, wielding melee weapons such as scythes, hammers, and whips, moving away from the original game’s telekinetic third-person shooter gameplay [1].
Combat can be augmented with secondary weapons and special supernatural abilities like telekinesis, ground slams, and fire blasts [1]. The narrative explores Control’s supernatural universe through Dylan, offering a fresh lens on the story without requiring prior knowledge of the original game. Kasurinen explained, "Right from the starting point when we were thinking about Control as a franchise that’s going to be several different games, the thinking was that it’s a story of a world, and then with every game we get a lens into that world through different protagonists" [2].
Earlier this year, Remedy released a two-plus-hour preview showcasing opening scenes, later missions, and open-ended combat, providing a deeper look at the game's style and mechanics [1, 2]. Control Resonant is on track for release in fall 2026 [1].
