Google Labs launched Dreambeans on June 3, an AI-powered app for iOS and Android that generates personalized illustrated lifestyle stories using data from users' Google accounts [1, 2]. With user permission, Dreambeans connects to Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube, and Search History to curate 10 to 14 stories daily, designed to inspire new ideas [1, 2].

The app generates varied content, including geographic recommendations, personalized news, and tips related to users’ activities, such as preparing for a new puppy or dog training advice [1, 2]. "With your permission, Dreambeans uses Personal Intelligence to connect information from Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube and Search History, to curate a finite collection of daily stories designed to spark new ideas," said Gozde Oznur of Google [1].

Dreambeans produces unique AI illustrations for each story using a system called Nano Banana 2 and occasionally incorporates photos from the user’s Google Photos library [2]. The app’s name refers partly to its overnight data processing: "The dream part is literal, because while you sleep, the app is working through everything across your apps," Oznur explained [1].

Designed to counter phone addiction, Dreambeans limits the daily number of stories rather than encouraging prolonged scrolling [1, 2]. Users retain full control over privacy settings, with options to restrict connected Google services and delete data at any time [1].

Dreambeans is currently available exclusively in English. The app continues processing users’ data during sleep cycles to prepare each day’s curated story collection [1].
