Square Enix confirmed the release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation as April 8, 2027, during Sony’s State of Play livestream on September 3, 2026 [1, 2, 3, 4]. The game will launch simultaneously worldwide on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC [2, 5, 3, 6].
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation concludes the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy and is the largest entry, featuring open-world exploration with returning and new locations like Wutai [1, 2, 7, 3, 8, 6, 9]. The Highwind airship serves as the player’s base and open-world transport hub [1, 2, 6, 9, 4]. Players may freely switch between party members, influencing quests and story interactions [1, 4].
The game introduces a new combat mechanic called the FITS system. Characters gain abilities linked to outfits or roles such as Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner [1, 4]. Returning characters and new party members Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind will be playable [1, 7]. Players can also engage in activities like parachuting from the Highwind, fighting atop the Chocobo companion Pico, using Yuffie’s grappling-hook gun, and playing the Queen’s Blood card game starring Red XIII [1, 6, 4, 10]. Cutscenes can be fast-forwarded at 2x speed, though the dialogue may be harder to understand at that rate [1, 3].
Square Enix confirmed two story DLC expansions, focusing on Sephiroth and Vincent & the Turks, to be released between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028 [7, 3, 11, 10]. These expansions will be available through a Story Expansion Pass or individual purchase [7, 11].
Physical editions include the game on one disc but require an internet connection to download additional game data to play [12, 5]. The Nintendo Switch 2 physical version comes on a Game-Key card requiring a full game download of about 130 GB [5]. Multiple editions will be offered ranging from Standard (Day One) at $69.99 to Collector’s Edition at $349.99 [12, 8]. The Collector’s Edition includes a premium statue of Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth, an artbook, mini soundtrack, steelbook case, and the Story Expansion Pass [12, 8].
Development lead Naoki Hamaguchi said, "The development team isn't changing their plans based on player feedback. The team has had a clear vision for the series since the beginning" [1].
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is estimated to bring approximately 150 hours of gameplay to complete the trilogy [9]. The next major milestone will be the game's April 8, 2027 worldwide launch.
