Paralives, a new life-simulation game, debuted on Steam as an early access title on May 25, 2026, and quickly sold more than 250,000 copies within eight hours of release [1, 2]. The game reached a peak concurrent player count of 78,603 shortly after launch [1, 2].
The development team behind Paralives consists of 15 people, according to lead developer Alex Massé [1, 2]. He stated, “There will never be paid DLCs, only free updates! Even after the Early Access. As life sim fans, we wanted to make a game we would like to play ourselves without the need to purchase a lot of extra content and we are happy to deliver that.” [1]
Paralives has garnered over 5,200 user reviews on Steam, with 88% of them positive [2]. The developers plan to improve features such as character autonomy and add more in-game interactions during early access. Massé explained, “Autonomy is definitely a big core feature of the game that needs more love, more balancing, and especially more content. The characters are on their phone a lot mainly because those interactions can be done without targeting any other character or item, so these are the 'easiest' and most common thing they can do. Adding more autonomous actions and more interactions in general during early access will help, it should make the characters do more various things!” [2]
The sales revenue so far is sufficient to sustain the small team for many years, even if they expand their size [1, 2]. Regarding modding, QA staff member Charlotte confirmed that adult content mods are allowed as long as they follow Steam's guidelines and are properly tagged within the Steam Workshop. Other mods outside of the Workshop are not moderated by the developers: "So long as it follows Steam's guidelines on user-uploaded content and is properly tagged as adult content, it is OK! We also only moderate mods inside of the Steam Workshop, so anything out of there will be out of our jurisdiction so to speak." [2]
Paralives continues in early access, with scheduled updates to add more content and refine gameplay mechanics.
