Twitch will roll out Dual Format streaming in September, allowing creators to broadcast horizontally and vertically at the same time. This will optimize viewing across desktop and mobile devices using its Enhanced Broadcasting technology with server-side transcoding for Partners and many Affiliates [1, 2].
Alongside Dual Format, Twitch will expand 2K (1440p) streaming to all partners and affiliates. The platform will raise bitrate support to 9 Mbps for 1440p streams and 7.5 Mbps for 1080p [1, 2].
New tools coming next month include Stream Summaries, which generate brief synopses of broadcasts as well as mid-stream summaries to keep viewers caught up. Auto Clips will automatically create captioned clips from key moments, enhancing discoverability. The summaries will also feature automatic clip captions and a best clips list [1, 2].
Twitch will add chat GIF support for Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscribers. Several monetization features will launch, including Creator Badge Drops, Mythic Trains, Creator Sponsorships, and expanded Bounty Board campaigns to help creators earn more revenue [1].
Additionally, Twitch plans to remove currency exchange fees for SEPA payments, lowering transfer costs for Eurozone streamers, though this carries medium confidence [1].
