Talay Riley, a 35-year-old British musician and songwriter whose real name was Mark Orabiyi, was found fatally stabbed in the garden of a property near Rayleigh Road in Silvertown, east London, on June 5, 2026 [1, 2]. Paramedics discovered Riley in the morning and attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene [1, 2].

Police arrested three people on suspicion of murder. A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 27-year-old man was later released on bail, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released with no further action [1, 2].

Riley was known as a respected behind-the-scenes hitmaker in the UK music industry. He signed his first major publishing deal with Global Publishing at age 18 [1, 2]. He had songwriting credits on multiple hit songs and worked with prominent artists including Britney Spears, Dua Lipa, Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Craig David, Khalid, The Chainsmokers, HER, Kehlani, Chris Brown, Usher, and Nick Jonas [1, 2].

Police continue their investigation and have appealed for witnesses and CCTV footage from the area during the morning of the incident to assist their inquiries. I would like to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident to speak to police. We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who might have CCTV or other footage that could assist our investigation." [2]

Family members and fellow artists paid tribute to Riley’s talent and kindness. His brother Michael Orabiyi, known as Scribz Riley, said, "My heart is shattered! This doesn’t feel real. It feels like a bad dream. Just before he went to sleep we spoke about the future, staying positive and about everything we still had left to do... He loved deeply, gave freely, and touched countless people through his talent, kindness, and spirit." [1] Other artists including Stormzy, Oritsé Williams, Wretch 32, Kehlani, HER, and Khalid also expressed condolences [1].

A family statement described Riley as "a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend" who "brought love, light, and joy to our family and to all who knew him" and said, "May his soul rest in perfect peace." [2]

The investigation remains ongoing as police seek further information and evidence related to Riley’s fatal stabbing.
