Tadej Pogacar captured the 14th stage of the 2026 Tour de France on July 18, extending his overall lead in the race to about four and a half minutes over Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark [1, 2]. The 155-kilometer stage ran from Mulhouse to Le Markstein Fellering in the Vosges mountains near the German and Swiss borders [1, 2].
Pogacar launched a decisive attack roughly 7.5 to 8 kilometers from the finish, including a critical move 1.6 kilometers from the summit of the final climb, Col de Haag [1, 3]. The 27-year-old Slovenian finished 38 seconds ahead of his teammate Isaac Del Toro of Mexico [1, 2]. French rider Paul Seixas took third place, narrowly ahead of Vingegaard who finished fourth, 44 seconds behind Pogacar [1, 3, 2].
Following the stage, Pogacar's overall cushion rose to approximately 4 minutes 30 seconds over Vingegaard [1, 2]. Remco Evenepoel remained third in the general classification, trailing Pogacar by about five minutes [1, 2].
Pogacar has won four stages so far in this Tour and is aiming to equal the record of five career Tour de France victories [1, 2]. He holds 25 total stage wins since 2020 in the race [2]. Meanwhile, Paul Seixas took the lead in the young rider’s classification, narrowly beating Juan Ayuso [3, 2].
Thousands of fans lined the course, creating an electric atmosphere that Pogacar praised. "Thanks to all the fans who came to the side of the road. It was really something unforgettable to see all the crowds on the top of the mountain - I've never seen something like this before," he said [1, 2].
The race now moves on toward the next stages where Pogacar will seek to maintain and extend his commanding lead in the general classification.
