Flathub has updated its policies to strictly ban the use of AI for both new application submissions and the applications themselves. This ban covers AI-generated or AI-assisted code, documentation, manifests, metadata, patches, build scripts, and pull requests [1].

The ban explicitly applies to submission pull requests, which must not be generated, opened, or automated through AI tools or agents, nor request AI reviews. Flathub prohibits applications containing any AI-generated or AI-assisted content from being hosted on the platform [1].

However, exceptions to the AI ban may be granted for mature and well-maintained projects. Flathub will continue to allow existing applications that may contain so-called 'slopcoded' AI content and does not plan to remove them retroactively [1].

This policy aims to regulate how AI tools can be involved in software submissions while protecting the integrity of new contributions on Flathub. The ban does not affect apps already on the platform but blocks AI usage in future uploads and updates unless the project qualifies for an exception.
